There's a number of ways to approach this type of question but for the purpose of this article, let's discuss from a technical perspective.
- Templates
- Generally speaking, these are simpler with fewer configuration options.
- They are primarily used for standardizing structure and format.
- Reports
- These are more complex and designed to extract/present data in a specific format.
Think of it this way: Templates define the structure and layout of a report, while reports are instances of those templates that contain the actual data and settings for a specific schedule.
